Are you living with type 2 diabetes?

Would you like to help us with the development of support for people in the same situation?

Building on the success of our one-to-one peer mentoring for people living with type 2 diabetes, The Peer Partnership is designing group peer support courses for people like you living with type 2 diabetes in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.  We want to start the process by speaking to the people actually affected by the condition.

There are approximately 62,000 people living with type 2 diabetes in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, affecting about 8% of the adult population, and this figure is set to rise over the coming years.

We are looking to pilot different ways of supporting people living with type 2 diabetes. We want to offer more opportunities for people to improve knowledge, confidence, and ability to self-manage their condition, so that they can live well with the condition and lead healthy lives. We believe that peer support can be an important part of providing effective and meaningful person-centred support.

Our focus group will ask you about the challenges of living with type 2, what would support you to live well, what would be helpful to discuss at a peer support course and how online or face to face support groups could help you.

If you are:

  • Living with a diagnosis of type 2
  • Living in Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire
  • Available to join an online Zoom session on Tuesday 20 September, from 18:00-19:30

We would like you to join us to share your experience, views and opinions on the development of peer support courses.

We will provide £10.00 in recognition of your contribution and attendance, following the completion of a feedback form after the focus group.

To register for this focus group, please complete our registration form here.
