Peer Support Design Services

A well-written proposal will make all the difference between a programme being accepted by stakeholders and decision-makers and a programme that never gets off the ground. A proposal should appeal to a number of potential readers, including funders, staff and, most importantly, the people the programme is designed to support. It should make the case for the need for a programme, the outline, and details of how it will be delivered, and how it will be judged to have been successful. A well-designed proposal will also make it easier to complete grant application forms.

Aims

To understand how to write an effective proposal and service specification for a peer support service that will support the case for funding and implementation of the programme.

Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the elements needed to make the case for a peer support programme
  • Know how to structure a proposal for a peer support programme
  • Be able to write a service specification for a peer support programme
  • Consider inputs, outputs, and outcomes to show the resources needed and the intended results of a peer support programme

Our workshop includes:

  • Need of service: how to make the case for the need of your service
  • Describing your service: the information you need to provide and how to lay it out
  • Service-user involvement: how to evidence service-user group involvement in the design and development process
  • Inputs, outputs, and outcomes: how to show the resources you will need, the activities you will undertake, and the impact they will have
  • Risk assessments and contingencies: how you will manage expected or unexpected changes to services

Who is it for?

This workshop is for voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) across the UK. Participants will not require any prior knowledge of peer support to participate but would benefit from having an initial idea for a programme to write a proposal for. There will be a maximum of 15 participants per workshop to allow for meaningful engagement.
